Joan Haltom, PharmD, MBA, FKSHP

Dr. Haltom obtained both her BS Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Business Administration degree from Campbellsville University. She began her career as a staff pharmacist in a FL teaching facility managed by HPI /Diagnostek Health Care, a Hospital Pharmacy Management Company. From 1988 to 1995 she served as the Director of Pharmacy at both community hospitals and psychiatric facilities managed by HPI/Diagnostek in Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky, and as the Midwest HPI /Diagnostek Regional Project Director at hospitals in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and New Jersey. Dr. Haltom was the Director of Pharmacy at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center in Richmond KY from 1995 to 2001. She joined Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in October 2001 and is the current System Director of Pharmacy at Ephraim McDowell Health. Dr. Haltom has served as a Voluntary Faculty member for University of Kentucky Pharm.D. students since 1996. She has precepted pharmacy management learning experiences for PGY1 residents at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center since 2010. Dr. Haltom holds active pharmacist licenses in Kentucky, Florida and a consultant pharmacist license in Florida. She is a former Board member and Past President of the Kentucky Society of Health System Pharmacists, and a two term Kentucky delegate to the American Society of Health System Pharmacists House of Delegates. Dr. Haltom was named a Fellow of KSHP in 2009 as well as the KSHP President’s Award recipient in 2010.
