Janeesh Sekkath Veedu, MD, FACP
Dr. Janeesh Sekkath Veedu is a board-certified medical oncologist, hematologist, and internist with expertise spanning thoracic oncology, gastrointestinal cancers, precision oncology, hematologic malignancies, cellular therapy, and supportive cancer care. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center and maintains active clinical practices in both Kentucky and Indiana.
Dr. Veedu completed his Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Kentucky, following residency training in Internal Medicine at Rutgers–Saint Peter’s University Hospital. He also earned a Mini-MBA from Rutgers University and is pursuing advanced training in healthcare value and quality improvement through the University of Kentucky. His diverse educational background has shaped a career that combines clinical excellence, healthcare innovation, leadership, and systems-based improvement.
Throughout his career, Dr. Veedu has cared for patients across the full continuum of oncology and hematology, from community cancer centers to academic medical centers and cellular therapy programs. His clinical interests include lung cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies, molecular oncology, immunotherapy, targeted therapeutics, and the integration of precision medicine into routine cancer care. In addition to his outpatient oncology practice, he serves as an inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy physician, bringing specialized expertise in the management of complex hematologic and oncologic conditions.
A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Veedu has taught medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing clinicians throughout his academic career. He has held multiple leadership roles, including Director of an acute medical inpatient service at the University of Kentucky and Membership Director for the Kentucky Chapter of the Society of Hospital Medicine. His commitment to professional development and healthcare quality is reflected in his extensive training in clinical education, quality improvement, and value-based care.
Dr. Veedu is an active researcher and author whose scholarly work includes publications in oncology, hematology, gastroenterology, and precision medicine. His research has been presented at national and international meetings, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting and the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC). His work has explored topics ranging from genomic profiling and targeted therapies to health disparities and outcomes research in cancer care.
As a speaker, Dr. Veedu is recognized for translating complex medical and scientific concepts into practical, clinically relevant insights. His presentations draw from a unique combination of academic oncology, community practice, healthcare leadership, and emerging technologies in medicine. He frequently speaks on topics including precision oncology, immunotherapy, lung cancer, value-based cancer care, artificial intelligence in oncology, and the future of cancer treatment delivery.
Dr. Veedu is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. His mission is to advance cancer care through innovation, education, and patient-centered excellence while helping clinicians navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of modern oncology.
