After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify care gaps and functional impact in patients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and with comorbid medical illness.
  • Interpret complex symptoms in patients with SPMI to identify psychiatric or medical drivers.
  • Apply integrated psychiatric-palliative strategies, including deprescribing and palliative-intent interventions, to improve quality of life.
  • Evaluate interdisciplinary roles and barriers to patient-centered and end-of-life care for patients with SPMI.
