Date & Time of Session - 1/15/26 - from 12-1PM
Overview
Pharmacists in many emergency departments and hospitals play a key role in the management of critically ill and high-risk populations, including obstetric patients. Many pharmacists may lack confidence or experience in the management of obstetric patients, particularly during high-acuity or emergent scenarios. Given the growing number of obstetric presentations in emergency and inpatient settings, this presentation will provide guidance and enhance pharmacist confidence in managing obstetric emergencies. The purpose of this continuing education presentation is to establish a basic understanding of common pregnancy-related complications, review evidence-based pharmacologic management strategies, and improve pharmacist competence in the care of obstetric and postpartum patients.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of common obstetric emergencies.
2. Differentiate pharmacologic management strategies for obstetric emergencies and necessary policies for use.
3. Apply evidence-based pharmacotherapy
