Date & Time of Session - 2/20/26 - from 12:00 - 1:00PM

Overview
Immunization practices have been extremely prevalent in current events. Misinformation is a major problem today, amplified by social media and news outlets. This can lead to numerous consequences, such as vaccine hesitancy and delayed immunization. This can lead to resurgence of controlled diseases, and increased morbidity and mortality of diseases that are largely preventable by safe and effective vaccines.

Healthcare professionals must continuously evaluate primary literature and contrast this to common misconceptions to apply communication and educational strategies to advocate for immunization as a core measure in controlling preventable infectious diseases.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Define foundational principles of immunization, immune response, and herd immunity
2. Evaluate common misconceptions that may lead to vaccine hesitancy, using hepatitis B and measles as examples
3. Illustrate potential implications of recent changes relating to immunization practice
4. Apply evidence-based strategies to navigate the current landscape of immunization
