Date & Time of Session - 1/12/26 - from 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Overview
Vasomotor symptoms occur in up to 80% of women during menopause. These symptoms can be debilitating and can have great implications on physical and mental well-being, with wider implications affecting relationships, workplace, and overall quality of life. Systemic hormone therapy, with estrogen alone or in combination with progestin, is the most effective therapy for vasomotor symptoms related to menopause.  Unfortunately, hormonal therapies are relatively contraindicated in survivors with hormonally mediated cancers, which includes most breast cancer survivors. Therefore, it is essential that our pharmacy team understands how to appropriately evaluate the risks and benefits of starting a patient on menopausal hormone therapy. It is also important that our pharmacy team is aware of the non-hormonal options available for breast cancer survivors, including the newly FDA approved neurokinin 1 (NK1) and neurokinin 3 (NK3) receptor antagonist, Lynkuet™.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Assess relative contraindications to menopausal hormone therapy
2. Identify non-hormone treatment options for vasomotor symptoms
3. Describe how neurokinin receptor antagonists work to reduce vasomotor symptoms
