At the completion of this lecture attendees should be able to:

  • Review the evolution and clinical significance of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) in EUS-guided pancreatic tissue acquisition.
  • Examine the role of ROSE in optimizing specimen triage, ancillary testing, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Compare fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and fine-needle biopsy (FNB) techniques in EUS-guided pancreatic tissue acquisition.
  • Evaluate the impact of ROSE on diagnostic adequacy, diagnostic accuracy, and tissue acquisition outcomes.
  • Assess the clinical benefits, limitations, cost-effectiveness, and resource utilization associated with ROSE.
  • Explore emerging alternatives, including macroscopic on-site evaluation (MOSE), telecytology, and digital pathology, and the future role of ROSE in pancreatic cytopathology
