1) Review Current approaches to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance, including patient selection, imaging modalities, and emerging surveillance strategies.

2) Evaluate the role of biomarkers in HCC detection, and risk stratification, including emerging blood-based and molecular biomarkers.

3) Discuss emerging and evolving treatments for HCC, including novel systemic therapies, combination strategies, and approaches to personalized treatment

Why does the problem exist? Despite advances in HCC surveillance, biomarkers & treatment, many patients are still diagnosed late, when curative options are limited. Suveillance remains imperfect, current biomarkers lack sufficient accuracy for early detection, and treatment options are rapdily evolving without having clear guidance on which patients benefit most from which therapy.

What do I want to change?

I want clinicians to move toward earlier, more accurate detection and more personalized treament of HCC using better surveillance strategies and biomarkers to identify cancer treatment earlier while leveraging emerging therapies to match the right treatemnt strategy to the right patient. 

Objectives:

1) Early detection can improve HCC outcomes. Effective surveillance is essential but cuurent ultrasound-based stragies miss a meaningful proportion of early cancers--particularly in patients with obesity, steatotic liver disase, and other challening liver phenotypes.

2) The future of HCC surveillance will be biomarker-enhanced and risk-informed. No single biomarker has yet to replace imaging, but emerging blood=based, molecular, and risk stratification approaches may enable ore accurate identification of patients who need surveillance.

3) HCC treatmnt is moving toward personalized, multimodal care. Advance in systemic therapy, locoregional therapy, and combination strategies are expanding treatment options--but patient selection and sequencing remin critical.

4) WE need to move from a "one-fits-all" approach to precision HCC care. The goal is to identify the right patient, at the right time, with the right surveeillance strategy and the right treatment.
